Painting a French door

As much as a french door looks beautiful in a home, painting it looks daunting and we tend to evade. There are a lot of glass pieces and wooden panel in between to paint and it appears complicated. But the work becomes smoother if a few simple tips are remembered.

Tools required are primer, brushes, razor, paint, sawhorse, sheet, screwdriver, putty, sandpaper and tape. It is better to unhinge the door and remove the hinges, handles before painting it. Putty is used to fill any hole on the door. Glass-panes are taped off to prevent getting paint stains. The front door is primed first and after it dries, it is painted. The back door is left to dry. A second coat can be applied if needed. A weatherproof sealant should be used for protection against sun and rain. After it’s done, replace the hardware and finally the door.

Your French doors which add to the beauty of your home should stay beautiful.
